Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: Ananda has beautiful extensive well cared for gardens spanning a river & many rooms have views of rice fields. It has clean lovely pools. It is peaceful and has local nature at back of property. It is 10 min up the hill from Ubud town centre but the shuttle three times a day is helpful & saves on taxis. The staff are all very pleasant & helpful.

Negative: Unfortunately the interiors of rooms are mostly dark & needing updating especially bathrooms. Beds & pillows were uncomfortable. Breakfast food was poor quality mostly soggy or over cooked & powder coffee ( extra charge to get a decent coffee). Less choices but nicely cooked would have been better. I was extremely disappointed that despite many emails attempting to get a room at back of property with verandah I was unable to do so directly with resort or by changing room with booking.com online. The Booking.com description of the room has now been changed I note but that did not help me there is still no way to choose the type of room I really wanted online & have stayed in previously. After difficult discussions on arrival where I had been led to believe it had been sorted out I was given preferred room type of at extra cost despite the fact the rooms were mostly vacant right through resort. Really ? as returned guest also bringing a friend to the resort ....and many rooms like I wanted vacant ...they could not have just upgraded us to what I was originally trying to book and had spent time trying to clarify prior arrival.

Summary: It is a lovely resort-I hope there is effort to bring the resort up to what experience it could be.
