This classic Block Island cottage boasts the best location for beach lovers with only a two-minute walk to Mansion Beach, the island’s most picturesque bathing beach. One of the first four vacation homes built here in the 1950s, the home was first expanded in the 1980s and updated in 2018 with a completely new kitchen as well as new hardwood floors, exterior windows, interior & exterior doors, and platform beds and mattresses. Both of the bathrooms were renovated in 2022.
The cottage has four bedrooms, each with a queen bed, and two full baths (one in the master bedroom suite). Thanks to the open plan of the kitchen, living and dining room, you can always enjoy the ocean view and watch the ferryboats passing by. The wrap-around deck has the same eastern view and is the perfect spot for breakfast or sunbathing. With large, level lawns in both front and back, the property is great for wiffle ball, frisbee, soccer, kite flying, and nighttime stargazing. The house sits high and usually enjoys cool cross-breezes, but there is central HVAC if needed.
Please note that the house rents from Friday to Friday, when car reservations are generally easier to get. Your rental fee includes use of linens, bath and beach towels, beach chairs & umbrellas, and a BBQ grill. The kitchen is fully stocked with cookware and utensils and the washer & dryer were brand new in 2021.
Our family has owned this house since it was built by our grandfather, who first visited Block Island in the 1920s. We will be happy to share our intimate knowledge of this beautiful place, including the best hikes (like Clay Head Trail, which is nearby and could figure into your daily exercise), restaurants, nightspots and shops. But once you are on the property and settled in, you might find you don’t need or want to go anywhere else!
