In addition to the Village of Woodstock, it is an easy commute east to the picturesque village of Quechee, eclectic downtown in White River Junction, Vermont, and further east over the river to Hanover, New Hampshire - the home of Dartmouth College. Killington, Pico, and Okemo mountains are about 30 to 40 minutes to the west of Pomfret and offer more advanced skiing terrain during the winter months, along with Saskadena Six mountain biking and hiking in the summer. You will also be near Appalachian trails, which outdoor enthusiasts will love. The Teago General Store is conveniently located diagonally across the street and stocks occasional grocery items and light breakfast and lunch options for purchase.
